A Special Book Signing

This is an event that is very dear to me, because it features people who I admire and love and it benefits a cause I feel very strongly about.

On Wednesday Dec. 4, famed photographer Jean Fruth and Jeff Idelson, the former president of the Baseball hall of Fame, will be at Foley's to sign copies of the book "Grassroots Baseball: Where Legends Begin". The book features Fruth's pictures accompanied by short essays from baseball legends about their own beginnings. It's an awesome collection of pictures with the very interesting, personal stories of baseball greats.

They have several books signed by Hall of Famers featured in the book, including Hank Aaron, Pudge Rodriguez, Craig Biggio, Johnny Bench, Cal Ripken, Vlad Gurrero and future Hall of Famers Ichiro Suzuki.

Joining them will be current MLB umpire Chris Conroy, because they are making a generous donation from each book sold to UMPS CARE. The MLB umpire's charity does great work with children and teenagers across the country. UMPS CARE provides financial, in-kind and emotional support for America’s youth and families in need. That includes taking time out of their crazy schedules during the season to make trips to children’s wards at hospitals, provide game experiences for children in foster care at the ballpark and also providing scholarships for foster kids too.

So this special event is not only a chance to meet Jean and Jeff and get copy of their awesome book signed by a Hall of Famer for the price of $80, (A perfect holiday gift for the baseball fan on your list), but it is also a chance to help a great cause.

I look forward to welcoming you to Foley's on 4th between 6-8. Let all the baseball fans in your life know and have them join us. The "more the merrier," when we can have some fun and do some good this time of year.
